About Me

Dorie Boyles planned to be a teacher since she was a small child. She spent many days of her childhood playing teacher with her friends. She started babysitting as a young teen and volunteered at schools and other organizations throughout college and beyond. She initially received her Bachelor's Degree in Communications from the University of Washington, then returned a few years later to complete her degree in Education and receive her Teacher Certification.

Soon after receiving her Teacher Certification, she got married and was promoted to Mom with two bonus daughters and the birth of her first daughter after that, so teaching outside the home was put on hold. Over the next 5 years, she had 2 more children and then started subbing in the public schools.

One last daughter put that on hold again, so Dorie opened an in-home daycare. She owned and operated a full-time in-home daycare for 6 years, where she could still be home with her children while using her teaching skills. After her youngest started Kindergarten, Dorie again started subbing in the public schools until schools shut down in 2020.

Her youngest 3 children did online school for 1 year, then two of them started attending The Academy of Snohomish. A month after school started in 2021, Dorie joined TAS as a Teacher in the 6th to 8th grade class. She taught in that class for 2 years and is now in her second year as a high school teacher.

About Our Learning Center

At The Academy of Snohomish, we are dedicated to partnering with parents in order to provide their children well-rounded education of the highest quality. Together, we work to inspire students to embrace learning and achieve their highest potential.

The Academy of Snohomish is a K-12 Christian educational program characterized by its quality, affordability, and faith-based curriculum, which integrates homeschooled students with teacher facilitators in a physical facility.  We offer families a comprehensive educational experience by integrating distance learning, homeschooling extensions, and a structured classroom routine, thereby addressing planning, grading, and record-keeping issues.

Each student at the Academy of Snohomish will have their own flexible education plan designed by you, the parent, your student, and one of our advisors. Your student will have the freedom to craft an education plan that will  compliment their natural interests and abilities.

Following the Academy of Snohomish’s morning devotions, their school day will likely begin by logging onto their Ignitia workspace The rest of the day will flex according to their class requirements, an elective choice, and what they have set out for their personal weekly goals. Afternoons are the time when you and your student can reconvene to pursue an offsite elective with other the Academy of Snohomish students, take on online computer programming or web design class, attend a student workshop, or get additional help from one of our tutors.

The options are limitless…
